Cowgirl Soccer Cruises To Another Win

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State continued its undefeated season with a commanding 6-0 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce Sunday at Neal Patterson Stadium.

With the win, the 15th-ranked Cowgirls improved to 8-0-1 and have now outscored their opponents 24-0 on the season. The Lions fell to 1-6-2 with the loss.

OSU’s defense was stout once again, securing its ninth consecutive shutout as Grace Gordon, Jaidy Gutierrez-Campos and Logan Marks combined for the clean sheet. Gutierrez-Campos had a pair of saves, while Gordon also recorded a save.

With the shutout, the Cowgirls maintained their status as one of only two teams nationally that have not allowed a goal this season. Auburn has recorded eight shutouts in eight games.

The Cowgirls dominated statistically, outshooting the Lions by a 32-4 margin to mark a season high in shots and owning an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Laudan Wilson opened the scoring in the 14th minute, weaving around several defenders and delivering a strike from 18-yards out to the near post for her second goal of the season.

Just under 10 minutes later, the Cowgirls doubled their lead when Logan Heausler netted her team-leading fifth goal of the season, slotting the ball into the top right corner from four-yards out off an assist from Alex Morris.

OSU would score twice more before the break. Mollie Breiner converted a penalty kick to make the score 3-0 in the 37th minute, and Bella Pierotti followed up a Sami Allen shot that was saved by sending in the rebound for her second goal of the year.

The Cowgirls wasted no time increasing their lead in the second half, with Adelhia Ghonda adding a goal in the 48th minute off a double assist from Heausler and Morris to put the home team up 5-0.

Aubrey Wagner capped the scoring frenzy in the 67th minute, notching her first collegiate goal with a left-footed shot from 16-yards out as Pierotti and Mabry Williams picked up assists on the play.

OSU returns to Big 12 Conference action this week with a pair of home matches as the Cowgirls host Colorado Thursday night before a Sunday afternoon showdown against Texas Tech.
