(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / June 9, 2017) – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team was selected as one of 15 hosts for the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Kickoff Weekend next season, the organization announced Thursday. It marks the second-straight year that the Cowboys will host the event.
The 15th-ranked Cowboys will be the top seed in the Stillwater region, where they will be joined by No. 18 Mississippi State, No. 28 Wisconsin and No. 29 Kentucky. The event is set for Jan. 27-28, 2018, with the winner of the regional advancing to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Seattle, Washington, scheduled for Feb. 16-19, 2018.
The Cowboys were victorious in the event as hosts this past season, defeating No. 22 Columbia and No. 14 Kentucky en route to securing their first trip to National Indoors since 2008.
OSU finished the 2017 season with a 22-7 record and the squad's first top-two finish in the Big 12 since 2007. The Cowboys also made their fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and hosted a NCAA Regional for the second-straight year.
