(STILLWATER, Oklahoma / January 16, 2019)—The 82nd edition of the Cowboy Jamboree will be held on Oct. 5 in Stillwater, Oklahoma State Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Dave Smith announced Wednesday.

The annual cross country meet has been a staple in Stillwater since its inception in 1937. In 2018, the meet was not held because the OSU Cross Country Course was under construction.

“We’re excited to bring back the Cowboy Jamboree, which is one of the nation’s most historic meets” Smith said. “We’ve done some great work on our course, so it’s great to be able to share our challenging course with the rest of the country. It will bring in a lot of teams who want to prepare for when we have Regionals and Nationals here, and we’re honored to get the chance to host.”

Updates were made to the course to prepare for its upcoming hosting duties. OSU will be the home of the 2020 NCAA Cross Country Championships and the 2019 Midwest Regionals.

The Cowboys have won the meet outright 23 times, including an eight-year winning streak at the event. The Cowgirls have won the event 11 times and have been victorious in six of the last eight contests.
