Cowboy and Cowgirl Cross Country Sweep Individual and Team Titles at Cowboy Jamboree
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men’s and women’s cross country competed in the 85th Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course, sweeping the individual and team victories.
The Cowgirls secured their first team win of the season and 11th total at the Jamboree. OSU nearly had a perfect score on the day, taking the top four spots and five of the top six overall. With their win today, the Cowgirls have won eight of the last 11 Jamborees.
Billah Jepkiriui led the way for the Cowgirls, taking home the win with a time of 20:28.6. Molly Born, Victoria Lagat, Cayden Dawson and Heidi Demeo rounded out the scoring for OSU, with times of 20:42.3, 20:55.0, 21:02.4 and 21:31.5, respectively. This victory gives Jepkiriui two careerwins on the grass after winning the Weis-Crockett Invitational last year.
The men’s team completed the sweep as freshman Denis Kipngetich took home the individual title with a time of 23:21.5. Brian Musau, Victor Shitsama and Jonas Price rounded out the scoring for the Cowboys, clocking times of 23:41.9, 23:48.7, 24:17.1, respectively. Kipngetich’s time is the sixth fastest in Jamboree and 8K course history.
For the third year in a row, the Cowboys and Cowgirls have swept the individual titles at the Jamboree. This also marks the Cowgirls’ second consecutive team victory at the Jamboree. On the men’s side, the Cowboys now have 26 Victory in Jamboree history and their first since 2020. The is also the first time both the men’s and women’s teams have swept the team races since 2015.
