(STILLWATER, Okla) - The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts at Oklahoma State University (OSU) will present the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) on January 28 at 8:00 pm. Tickets to the concert are sold out. A waitlist is available for those interested in attending.

Withing a year, The McKnight Center has brought three of the top five best orchestras in the country to Stillwater: Philadelphia Orchestra (March 2022), the New York Philharmonic (September 2022), and Chicago Symphony Orchestra (January 2023).

"One of our artistic goals is to present all of the 'Big 5' orchestras here in Stillwater, and this concert brings su closer to achieving that ambition," said Mark Blakeman, The McKnight Center's Marilynn and Carl Thoma Executive Director. "Making this concert even more special is the opportunity for our audience to celebrate the musical legacy of one of the world's preeminent conductors, Maestro Riccardo Muti, before he retires at the end of the performing season."

The musicians of the CSO command a vast repertoire and annually perform more than 150 concerts, most at Symphony Center in Chicago, and, since 1936, nearly ever summer at the Ravinia. The CSO also tours nationally and internationally. Since its first tour to Canada in 1892, the Orchestra has performed in twenty-nine countries on five continents. This is the orchestra's 63rd international tour.

This will be the orchestra's first time performing in Stillwater. They performed in Oklahoma for the first time in April 1903 in Guthrie under the direction of Theodore Thomas. The second and most recent performance in Oklahoma was January 1987, in Bartlesville with Music Director Sir Georg Solti.

The concert program includes:

Ludwig van Beethoven | Cariolan Overture, Op. 62
Ludwig van Beethoven | Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93
Anatoly Lyadov | The Enchanted Lake, Op. 62
Modest Mussorgsky | Pictures at an Exhibition

Funding for this concert is provided in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
