Town & Gown Theatre will be holding auditions for the first production of their 65th season, Deathtrap written by Ira Levin. Auditions are Sunday, August 2nd at 6pm and Monday, August 3rd at 7pm at Town & Gown Theatre.

Director Glynna Worley is looking for 5 people ages 30 to 65. The director has added a twist to casting this show. Normally there would be specific male and female roles. However, men and women will be auditioning for both parts and the character’s gender will be determined as the show is cast. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and maybe a theatre game or two. Even if not cast for a role onstage, there are opportunities to be a part of the backstage and supporting crew. Auditions are a good time to meet the director and find out ways to help out with the production.

Deathtrap starts with a perfect thriller script, a long-suffering playwright, a promising student, a rich spouse, a tired psychic, suspense, typewriters, weapons and of course… murder.  It has a hilarious combination of twists and turns that are sure to delight the audience throughout.

When asked what draws her to this script, Worley said it simply. “I love the versatility of Deathtrap and the twists and turns the script takes. Never a dull moment! Oh, and those late 70s early 80s fashions, they're a scream. Yes, pun intended.”

Deathtrap has eight scheduled performances for October 1-4 & 8-11. For more information about upcoming productions and auditions follow us on Facebook or visit www.townandgown.org.
