Stillwater CVB Brings Home Redbud Award

The Stillwater CVB brought home first place in the New Event category for Legends Weekend.

Last year, Stillwater’s first Legends Weekend featured a variety of events over a three-day period including: live concerts, the Stillwater Arts Festival, the Remember the Ten Run, and the OSU Orange and White Spring Football Game.

Stillwater CVB Executive Director Cristy Morrison said the success of Legends Weekend hinged on the cooperation of others within Stillwater.

“Legends Weekend 2011 was the first time there was a full willingness among so many local organizations to cross-promote each other’s events, and as a result, a combination of local, state and national exposure was created,” Morrison said.  “Legends Weekend represents the best example of local organizations partnering through a singular cross promotional strategy within the community.”

This year, there were more than 100 Redbud entries in 16 categories. Morrison said she was surprised to hear the CVB’s name called in a category loaded with great entries.

“It’s so exciting to win an award like this when you consider how strong the competition was in this category,” Morrison said.

The awards represent the highest honor given in the Oklahoma tourism industry. Direct travel expenditures in Oklahoma generate more than $6.2 billion for the state’s economy annually and support jobs for 74,900 residents.

The mission of the Stillwater CVB is to enthusiastically promote, market, and sell Stillwater as a destination for meetings, conventions, and individual travelers.
