Stillwater to Display Art and Art of Giving Back
Both
the SCI Young Artists Showcase Tour and the Tour de Quartz continue this week.
The Showcase Tour features pieces created from some of the top young artists in
the world. The artwork is on display at the
Stillwater Community Center. The Tour de Quartz also features the work of young
artists. The exhibition, which takes place at the Gardiner Art Gallery on the
OSU Campus, highlights the artwork of high school students. Hayley Russell's piece, seen to the right, is an example of some of the work that will be on display.
Young artists will also be on display Monday and Tuesday night for Stillwater High School’s Choir Concert and Orchestra Concert. The former begins tonight at 7:30 p.m., and the latter will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Both will be at the Stillwater Performing Arts Center.
The Red Cross has created a unique event for music enthusiasts on Thursday—the Rock-N-Roll Up Your Sleeve/Stillwater Community Blood Drive. The blood drive will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the Stillwater Public Library. Those who donate will receive a free Rock-n-Roll t-shirt, and will be eligible to win a Gibson Guitar. Donators are encouraged to schedule an appointment online.
After giving blood, you can head to the Summer on the Plaza at the OSU Student Union. There will be live music, entertainment, movies, and extended shopping and dining hours. Free parking will be available at 5 p.m. in the Student Union Parking Garage.
Other events this week include the Farmers 2nd Annual Birdies for Babies Golf Tournament on Wednesday. The tournament tees off at 1:30 p.m. at Lakeside Golf Course. The entry fee is $300 for a 4-man scramble and prizes will be available throughout the event. Proceeds benefit the March of Dimes.
The Botanic Gardens will also be hosting a Walk-n-Talk on Tuesday from 7:15 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.
